This year, West Canada Valley's instrumental program had nine students chosen to participate in the prestigious festival held at SUNY Oneonta on November 18th and 19th. From the students who prepare these challenging solos, students are asked to submit their ratings for review to be chosen to play in a Zone (approximately 3-5 county area) Festival with some of the best players from that area. When students reach high school age, they begin preparing more difficult solos - those that are considered a New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Level V or Level VI. STUDENTS SELECTED TO ATTEND AREA-ALL STATE MUSIC FESTIVAL Each year, thousands of students all over New York State prepare a solo on their respective instrument to play for an adjudicator for a rating.
